My paintings are Reflective of the Ancient Means & Methods from the 1800’s. I make Tempera paints from Earthen Clay, chalk for White and charcoal and Lamp Soot for Black. The paint Binder is Egg Yokes. I use a modern day Wood Panels made from MDF which replaces the traditional Birch Panels used a 1000 years ago. I started making my own Gesso using Chalk and Hide Glue applying several coats to Belgian Linens. I’m excited to start using them.
